A major security breach has allegedly compromised the personal data of over 100,000 Gemini customers, putting crypto users at significant risk. According to a recent report from The Dark Web Informer, a threat actor known as “AKM69” has listed a massive trove of Gemini user data for sale on the dark web. The leaked database reportedly contains full names, email addresses, phone numbers, and location details, with most records belonging to customers in the United States, along with some from Singapore and the UK.

As of now, Gemini has not issued any official statement regarding the breach. It remains unclear whether the crypto exchange’s internal systems were compromised or if the leak resulted from external vulnerabilities such as phishing attacks or exposed AWS storage. The lack of clarity has fueled concerns within the crypto community, as similar incidents have targeted major exchanges in the past. Just a day before the Gemini leak, another cybercriminal under the alias “kiki88888” reportedly put up over 132,700 lines of Binance user data for sale, including emails and passwords. The Dark Web Informer suggested that compromised user devices might have played a role in the Binance breach and urged crypto users to exercise caution online.

This incident is not the first time major crypto platforms have faced security threats. Last year, a misconfigured AWS storage bucket led to the exposure of over 250,000 KYC documents from Nigerian crypto exchange Bitnob. Similarly, over 58,000 customers of Bitcoin ATM operator Byte Federal had their personal data compromised in a cyberattack. As the crypto industry continues to grow, security lapses—whether through AWS misconfigurations or direct platform breaches—underscore the need for stronger safeguards. Users must remain vigilant to protect their personal and financial information from cybercriminals targeting Gemini and other crypto platforms.
