Harness has announced the introduction of three new AI-driven features designed to enhance cloud cost optimization and financial operations (FinOps) for organizations. These features—Cloud Asset Governance, Commitment Orchestrator, and Cluster Orchestrator—aim to help companies across various industries manage rising cloud expenses.
The Cloud Asset Governance feature leverages policy-as-code to automate cost management, security, and compliance tasks across multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Harness claims that this feature allows enterprises to effortlessly create and enforce governance policies, eliminating cloud waste while ensuring adherence to security standards. The Harness AI Development Assistant (Aida) aids in drafting custom rules with simple language prompts, validating these rules, and providing insights into existing policies.
Harness’s Commitment Orchestrator uses machine learning to forecast compute spending and automates the purchase and management of AWS EC2 Reserved Instances (RIs) and Savings Plans. This feature aims to help enterprises maximize the value of their AWS EC2 compute spend by continuously optimizing commitment utilization, identifying reallocation opportunities, and ensuring comprehensive coverage of compute resources.
The third feature, Cluster Orchestrator, enables workload-driven intelligent node autoscaling for Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). According to Harness, this feature allows organizations to manage their cluster infrastructure efficiently, achieving up to 90% cost savings on compute costs by running workloads on spot instances without compromising availability.
“As organizations increasingly rely on cloud services for digital transformation, managing and optimizing cloud costs has become a top priority,” stated Ravi Yadalam, Director of Product Management at Harness. He noted that mismanaged commitments, lack of governance, and failure to leverage discounted excess cloud capacity can lead to inflated cloud bills, hindering innovation and growth.
“To address these challenges head-on, we’re excited to launch three powerful new capabilities for our intelligent cloud cost optimization and FinOps solution,” Yadalam added. “This new trio of features empowers organizations to master their cloud cost optimization. Harness is at the forefront, providing enterprises with tools to intelligently manage and optimize their cloud resources, commitments, and container environments, driving continued growth and success.”
These new features are set to provide organizations with enhanced tools to manage and optimize their cloud computing costs, supporting broader digital transformation goals and enabling continued innovation.
